The changes that constantly occur in economics often form such a situation when the finance specialist’s professional competence does not fully conform to the requirements for professional activities in the market. After finishing university studies the specialist goes to the labour market and starts his or her real professional activities. At that time abundance or lack of professional competences and significance of acquired knowledge and its application possibilities appear. The results of the scientific research determine what professional competences are usually the most needed, which acquired professional knowledge is used or not used while performing real finance functions, how the acquired knowledge during university studies can be applied in business environment that has changed. The respondents of the research are the finance specialists that already work in the market, have real finance specialist’s experience and can adequately assess the construction of finance programs at universities. The respondents’ assessments can be of great importance while updating and creating new finance programs at universities.
