Abstract: In general this book had two intentions. First was to honour a well known, untiring worker in the field of sociology of religion and especially in the sphere of new religions, James A. Beckford. The second intention of this book, as we see it, was to bring together contemporary scholars of sociology of religion with the aim of discussing the place of religion in contemporary social life. And we would suggest that the main idea of this book was to emphasize the centrality of religion in social life after so many attempts within the field of sociology of religion to demonstrate that religion is fading away
