Abstract (en)
Folklore has always been one of the greatest influences on Lithuanian children’s poetry. This is most obvious in poems of Janina Degutyte, Sigitas Geda, Leonardas Gutauskas and Martynas Vainilaitis. This is reflected in children’s poetry: spiritualization of natural objects, concretization of spiritual objects, distinction of personal space, respect for life, understanding of natural cycles of life, praise to good will, universal condemnation of coercion. In this way the world in children’s poetry reminds of the world characteristic of folk songs, fairytales and mythological legends.
