The transference of genres online caused their changing and gaining new features. One of such genres is popular science article, the aim of which is to present scientific information to non-specialists. Thus, the aim of the present investigation is to analyse popular science articles in the humanities from a multimodal perspective. The main aspects of analysis are the structure of the website in which the article appears and the context of the article. The analysis has revealed that online popular scientific articles are interactive and interdiscursive. Structurally, they are placed on the left side, while the right side of the website is occupied by advertisements, links to other websites, archives, blogs, and other texts which complement popular science articles. Readers can also comment on the articles, write blogs quoting or using information from the article or copy them to social communication websites. Therefore, the role of a scholar is changing, as a non-specialist can also write popular science articles or comment on scholarly issues.
