Abstract (en)
Binaural identification of sound sources is an important human hearing ability. In this work an experimental system is presented, which allows to investigate physical principles of binaural hearing. It is shown that at low frequencies there are limited possibilities to localize sound source whereas at high frequencies the interaural level difference is a preferable cue for recognizing location of sound sources. At intermediate frequencies the cue of interaural time difference is used for binaural hearing. Also the effect of traffic noise on binaural hearing is investigated.
