Abstract: The yellow Apodemus flavicollis from five different populations and four different localities of Europe (Norway, Finland, Latvia) were analyzed by a randomly amplified polymorphic DNA polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR) technique using ten primers (ROTH-01, ROTH-02, ROTH-03, ROTH-04, ROTH-05, ROTH-06, ROTH-07, ROTH-08, ROTH-09, ROTH-10). Seven of them gave specific patterns and could be used as genetic markers for the species analyzed. The genetic polymorphism among populations varied from 13,39 % to 77,17 %. Genetic similarity among populations varied from 0,7515 to 0,8806
