Abstract: Apmąstant dirbinį, jo rastį, tvermę ir nyktį, pamatinę reikšmę turi Martino Heideggerio reikmens buvimo būdo analizės, padedančios pagrindą medžiaginės kultūros hermeneutikai.
An inquiry into the craftwork – its coming into being, endurance, and withering – must fundamentally draw on Martin Heidegger’s analysis of the utensil’s way of being, which grounds the hermeneutics of material culture. From this ground, the paper examines the boundaries of the life of a craftwork in the human world and the spheres beyond them, namely: the realm of the chthonic as well as the metamorphoses that a craftwork goes through as it transcends this boundary, such as forgetting, trashing, withering, and destruction. Beyond these metamorphoses the craftwork is found in a limbo state of being. The constant element of the metamorphosis is explained in phenomenological hermeneutic terms as stability which, in turn, grounds the phenomena of transformation by remake.
