Pastoral theology highlights that the cult of the Virgin Mary must rely on the Christological and ecclesiologic perspectives, but the theological level of these practices under various sociocultural conditions has been explored poorly, thus it is difficult to notice possible semantic theological deviations. This article highlights authentic criteria of the devotion to the Virgin Mary and presents theological arguments which create the possibility for the ministry to strengthen the theological sense of this devotion, the perspective of the Marian devotion in the Eucharistic context. Marian devotion must be spread and practiced correctly covering these aspects of the Virgin Mary that are directly connected to Christ and the Church, thus avoiding false prominence or understatement. All possible mistakes of the Marian devotion must be corrected accurately. The theological explanation of the Marian devotion is that the Virgin Mary is the Path leading from the Father through the Son towards humanity, because she is a Mother who presents her Son the Saviour as a gift. The Virgin Mary cannot be excluded from the life of the Church. The Church teaches about the Virgin Mary as a spiritual mother, who intercedes for us because of her special relationship with the risen Christ and with people who must be seen under the perspective of the communion of saints. The practice of the virtues of the Virgin Mary is a very important aspect for the Marian devotion, but the dimension of its intercession and advocacy has always been in the first place, firmly based on the Tradition of the Church and the Holy Scripture. Also it is important to state that the intercession and advocacy of the Virgin Mary is limited in the ministry and cannot be displaced to the justice of God.[...].
