Abstract: Interest in the changes undergone by a community affected to a large extent by international migration was sparked in the course of carrying out the project "Tomorrow began yesterday" in the summer of 2004 in a small town of central Lithuania. Using the methods of social antropology, the authors together with the inhabitants of the community attempted to determine the contours of the community's everyday life, marked as it was by social and economic transformations. This article presents the initial results of research undertaken in 2006 and 2007 by the Social Economics Institute on the international migration of members of rustic communities.[...]
