Abstract: In this article, the Lithuanian diaspora community leader, jurist, and active member of the World Lithuanian Community and the Lithuanian American Community Algimantas Gureckas surveys Lithuanian- Polish relations in the refugee and emigrant community. From his personal experience the author describes the activities of the Lithuanian Community and its attempts to establish contact with Polish community leaders in an effort to reduce tensions. The article’s main concern is with disputes about the Vilnius Territory and Lithuanian efforts with respect to the way Poland’s eastern boundary was depicted in maps and atlases as well as Lithuanian aspirations to have truthful information about the Vilnius Territory presented in encyclopedias and almanachs. The article also surveys the efforts of the Lithuanian diaspora community to obtain the recognition of the Vilnius Diocese as belonging to the Catholic Church in Lithuania.
