The knowledge of social psychology is indispensable to all professions involving relationships, including among others psychology, education, management, law, etc. However, up till now such knowledge has usually been presented in either an excessively complicated academic format or as a superficial “self-help” product. The present leaning book “Social psychology” aims at bridging this gap and presen ting the essential principles of social psychology in a scholarly, yet easily readable and comprehensible format. The book starts with a review of the basis of human social behavior, which allows the reader to make use of this book without any prior knowledge in psychology. To make an easier reading, the text is free from unnecessary references. Referenced in the text are only those authors, theories and studies, which are essential for functional mapping of the field of social psychology in the mind of a reader. Comprehension is further facilitated by everyday examples used in the text. Learning is made easier by summaries presented at the end of each chapter, while an interested reader is provided with references to further readings. The book consists of six parts comprising 27 chapters. It covers all main topics of social psychology: principles for understanding of human relationships, bases of human social behavior, social cognition, social influence, social relations, and group issues. Throughout the book an effort has been made to make a balanced presentation of Northern American and European perspectives. The structure of the book makes it easily adaptable to undergraduate teaching needs in most universities.en_US
