There are many questions occupying a number of educational institutions today. What is the strategic answer of the journalism schools to the challenges of the digital revolution and the situation of media convergence? Or to put it more concrete: What should be the essential elements of online journalism training, in order to ensure the professional standard of journalists and at the same time contribute to the development of online journalism? The book “Writing for the Web: An Introduction to Online Journalism” aims at answering these particular questions. It provides a theoretical framework within which to analyse qualitative aspects of journalism development online. It also covers main technological affordances of the new medium in respect to audience needs and development of genres online. This particular text is meant to introduce the reader to online journalism concepts, models and experiences as developed in Nordic countries. The book is used in several academic institutions in Norway and has received positive response from its users.
