The problems of music educators' training and development their subjec competency are an integral part of the entire Lithuanian educational systerr and its reorganization. These days, the profession of music educator is facing new professional and subject requirements. This article presents a research, the aim of which is to compare music teacher subject training curriculum in universities of Lithuania and to introduce the European experience. The results of curriculum analysis of music educator training at higher educational institutions of Lithuania revealed that academic profile of training professional musicians predominates, which demonstrates insufficient orientation towards music education needs of pupil/learnerc at secondary schools of general education and development of future music educators' subject competency. On the other hand, the experience of training music educators at Lithuanian universities is mature and original for improving development of future music educators' subject competency.
