Problem: Voluntary activity is still not very popular in Lithuania. The reason is that lot‘s of people don‘t admit voluntary activity in Non-governmental organizations as a part of Non-formal education. Object: Non-formal education as a part of voluntary activity in Non-governmental organizations. Purpose: To reason voluntary activity in Non-governmental organizations as Non-formal adult education. Hypothesis: 1. The motivation of participating in voluntary activity depends more on ideas, values declared in Non-governmental organizations, than on person‘s wish to gain skills needed in professional area. 2. Adults don‘t admit that participating in voluntary activity is a part of Non-formal education to them. Methodology and organization of research: For realizing the purpose as methods of research were chosen theoretical analyze and the questioning which was made in April-May 2006. The questionnaire was commited for adult members, volunteers and workers of NGO‘S. The main results and conclusions of this work: 1. The motivation of participating in voluntary activity depends more on person‘s wish to gain skills needed in professional area than on ideas, values declared in Non-governmental organizations. 2. Adults admit participating in voluntary activity as Non-formal education. Those who volunteer admit getting a lot of knowledge, skills and values. Most of respondents would like to get sertificates admiting that they were taking part in various courses, seminars and conferences and recognizing skills in general which they have gained while participating in voluntary NGO’s activity. 3. Half of respondents who were taking part in trainings received certificates. This means that not only respondents admit participating in voluntary activity as Non-formal education, but also Non-governmental organizations are starting to recognize skills, gained at trainings.
