In modern-day school a lot of attention is paid so that all educational process would be based on humanistic principles. Supposedly learning is the easiest and most effective when a schoolchild feels no fear. However, most schoolchildren at school face humiliations, they are poorly considered, are mocked at, despised, treated unfairly. The cause of fear for most schoolchildren is schoolteacher, organisation of class work, and school itself. Therefore there are considerable causes of psychical pressure in school, which are almost impossible to avoid. Schoolteachers often feel psychical pressure in school too. Often one can hear opinions, common in the society in Lithuania, that claim that teacher’s profession is particularly privileged, that is, part-time job, guaranteed remuneration and prolonged leave, unattainable for most people. Yet investigations performed in various countries stress the fatigue and exhaustion that schoolteachers face, described as school stress, which forms states of school fears, which leads to the formation of stress situations, emergence of fears and unwillingness to work in educational institutions. The aim of the thesis is to assess educational and society phenomena that produce negative impact on educational process, educational system, school as organization, so that both schoolchildren and schoolteachers experience states of school fear. The task of the thesis: 1. To perform analysis of literature and research concerning school fear. 2. To establish factors causing school fear among schoolchildren both in country and in cities. 3. To examine states of school stress and school fear experienced by schoolteacher. The object of research School fear experienced by schoolchildren and schoolteachers. The Method of research Theoretic analysis of literature sources. Questionnaire survey. Respondents 200 schoolchildren and schoolteachers from schools of Panevezys city and region. Findings The analysis of literature reveals that fear problem is of interest to many authors, yet there is no uniform classification of this phenomenon so far. Researches on school fear were particularly hard to find. The results of investigation performed reveal that the strain of study of schoolchildren is over large, therefore they often experience various pains, get tired, find it hard to fall asleep and have no rest. Only one out of ten schoolchildren feels no pain at school or after classes. More than half schoolchildren find studying too difficult, they face stress constantly. Almost one out of six schoolchildren interviewed wish they never go to school again, and another sixth part would rather appear in school very seldom. The results of investigation reveal that schoolteachers under situations caused by school stress and school fear face fatigue and exhaustion. Fear situations cause negative somatic symptoms, spiritual experiences. Therefore school stress and school fear have negative impact on physical, psychical and social health of schoolchildren. Negative opinion of the society concerning the profession of schoolteacher, poor organisation and management of schoolteachers work, lack of information in school itself, rush and short terms of execution, furthermore unfriendly colleagues, it all very often contributes to the factors causing stress to as many as one third of schoolteachers. Factors, having impact on the stress of schoolchildren and schoolteachers in country and in cities, manifestations of school fear and results reveal tendencies of school fear among schoolchildren and schoolteachers, that impede successful socialisation of a schoolchild in school.
