Abstract: This article analyzes how reliable teachers' expert evaluation of proverbs' and sayings' didactical accessibility to primary school pupils' understanding is. Two hundred and fifty primary school teachers were questioned. Their prognostic conclusions were verified among the second- and fourth- grade pupils. It has corresponded to the actual level of pupils' metaphorical understanding therefore teachers' expertise can be relied upon and applied in the education research and practice
