Vykstant Lietuvos švietimo sistemos pokyčiams, formuojamas naujas visuomenės požiūris į vaikų meninį ugdymą. Profilinis mokymas suteikia galimybę trečios pakopos mokiniams rinktis vieną iš privalomų meninių dalykų - muziką, dailę, teatrą ar šokį. Straipsnyje aptariami svarbiausi veiksniai, kurie lemia meno dalyko pasirinkimą, nagrinėjamos prielaidos ir motyvai, formuojantys mokinių nuostatas.
In the course of changing Lithuania educational system a new attitude towards student's upbringing is being formed. Profiled education gives an opportunity to a third stage students to choose one of compulsory art subjects — music, art, theatre or dances. For the development of the society a personality having a positive attitude towards creativity a person able and wishing to take part in creative activities, trying to attain perfection in it is needed. It is very important that students perceived their creativity as a natural, acceptable and arousing positive emotions activity. It would help the student to form his creative skills, encourage him to take up this activity being mature. The task of contemporary artistic upbringing is to increase the students’ artistic experience, arouse their wish to store that experience, cherish their abilities and provoke their motivation. A student joins the gymnasium having a kind of artistic experience, while in the third class he/she must choose one of compulsory art subjects. Artistic attitude towards that choice plays the main role. In order the students chose the right branch of art teachers should show their efforts. This problem has become really very important as the success of fur-ther artistic upbringing mainly depends on the solution of it. In order to analyze the students’ attitude towards art subjects an inquiry of 431 Vilnius Žemyna gymnasium third-forth class students was held. The task of investigation was to find out the tendencies of students’ attitude towards art subjects. The experiment revealed that students’ attitude towards artistic activities is constant, either to choose it or not to choose it. It was noticed that students’ motivation towards artistic activities plays the main role in choosing it. The students’ attitude towards art, if it is formed constantly, becomes deep and positive. On the one hand this attitude helps him to orientate in surroundings, on the other hand it makes his orientation more difficult. Upbringing is the main means in the forming the atti-tude towards art. The teacher is the main person to do it.
