The article seeks to reveal the accessibility of foreign language learning in Kaunas Catholic Priests’ seminary. The need of different foreign languages is discussed according to the seminary direct subordination to a higher ecclesiastical institution together with the Theology Faculty at Vytautas Magnus University and according to the way foreign languages are going to be used in a future priest’s life following social status. It depends on if they are going to work in educational institutions, big cities, small parishes or can be sent abroad to work among emigrants. Social aspect of learning foreign languages is discussed that helps integrate into wider social layers answering the spiritual needs of different people. The choice of foreign languages should be determined by the concrete circumstances of modern life and social needs. It is recommended to increase the accessibility of foreign language learning in Kaunas Priests’ seminary as a basis for further development of human personality and encouraging life-long learning.
