The European Union is playing a very active role in the process with European institutions financing numerous programmes in Kosovo and working together with several partners. The NGO CARE International for example that launched, an empowerment programme of the Roma and related minorities in Kosovo in 2007. A main objective of the programme is to help them to create small activities to improve their living standards. Gezim, for example, was given new machines.
