Research was done in the Open access Joint Research Centre of Agriculture and Forestry Agrobiotechnology Laboratory and Institute of Biology and Plant Biotechnology in the Faculty of Agronomy at the Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy in 2019–2020. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of growth regulator on the callus genesis in petiole culture. Isolated petioles were grown in Murashige and Skoog (MS) culture medium supplemented with 0,1 mg l−1; 0,5 mg l−1; 1,0 mg l−1; 1,5 mg l−1; 2,0 mg l−1; 5,0 mg l−1 thidiazuron (TDZ). Optimal concentration of the studied growth regulator cytokinin thidiazuron for induction of ‘Duchess Catherine’ callus 0.5– 1.0 mg l−1. Increased concentrations of this growth regulator (<1.0 mg L−1) inhibit callus growth.
