"Fusing students' pragmatic and humanistic values" (by Audrone Durntchene and Sighitas Daukilas) discusses co-relation of humanistic vs. pragmatic values inculcated in the course of education. Thus, pedagogical technologies used in higher educational institutions in Lithuania are but partially centered on shaping abilities inherent to individuals, to sociability and civic virtues of individuals involved. Professional or pragmatic values come to be excessively emphasized endangering the process of professional self-realization. The search for balancing both sides of education makes the core of the paper contents eventually suggesting in conclusion some practical means to harmoniously combine both in the course of university studies.
