This paper is based on the experience, given in the summer school Virtual mobility and learning (two weeks in June 2013). Participants of this event were new lecturers and doctoral students who are interested in e-tools and introduce it in the study process. Formative assessment is a significant part of the study process as a factor for promotion of the learning. Computer-based assessment lets teachers be more precise and, therefore, more efficient in terms of the assessment. It is a great opportunity to use a computer-based assessment system for formative assessments, and the Moodle platform, which is one of the most widely used e-learning environments, offers various tools for this purpose. Summer school provided significant experience with these tools.
