Recent scientific publication written by the specialists of Center for Medical Genetics in Vilnius University Hospital Santariskiu Clinics (Eur J Hum Gen. 2006;14(Suppl.1):198) report congenital anomalies after IVF, diagnosed prenatally. All of reported anomalies are not frequent in general population. However, their frequency rate in the case of IVF procedure is 1 in 300. So, apprehensive, full and particular information about the health risk must be presented to each patient who is planning to make a reasoned decision in favour or against the IVF procedure. The aim of this paper is to analyse the extend of information about the health risk required in order to make a reasoned decision about the IVF procedure and to identify the priorities for presentation of such an information. Methods: the study is performed by analyzing and prioritizing scientific data taken from peer reviewed publications in PUBMED (period of publications: 1999- May 2006). Four priorities regarding the health risk to a child, who is born from fresh or frozen embryos, a mother and a fatal risk to an embryo itself are singled out from the findings of the study performed.
