Lietuvių etninėje kultūroje kaimas ir šeima buvo pagrindiniai vaikų socializacijos veiksniai, tradicijų bei papročių nešėjai ir perteikėjai. Šiame straipsnyje nagrinėjama šeimos ir bendruomenės sąveika, išskiriami pagrindiniai kaimo bendruomenės bruožai, jų įtaka vaikų socializacijai.
The rural community was the main agent in preservation of traditions as well as the main factor of the socialization of children in Lithuania. The rural community influenced the socialization of children mainly indirectly. A family was the intermediate chain between the child and the rural community. However, the direct influence of rural community was observed as well. In this article, the main characteristics of rural community, i.e. sedentary life, reticence, influencing peasant’s style of life and consciousness as well as moral culture. They created specific environment and methods of socialization. The main methods used were the example and public opinion of rural community, approving or disapproving behaviour of a child. The neighbour relations, “nice accommodating neighbourhood” were of particular importance. Together with development of historical, social and economic conditions, the role of the rural community in socialization of children underwent changes as well. This was highly influenced by land reform and division of villages into boweries.
