The works of so called “classic” folklore referring to the old times were the object of investigation of literature researchers till comparatively recent time. Only such kind of material was considered to be worth of examining, and the scientific priorities of folklore researchers were based on the principle: “the oldest is the most valuable”. This scientific approach created the idea of dying of traditional folklore. Complaining about disappearance of the number of mastery schools, genres and traditions philologist did not notice appearance of the new texts which were not typical for folklore repertoire earlier. The aforementioned can be also applied to children’s folklore. Broadening of folklore boundaries and achievements of modern science brought correction of the very understanding of the extent, content and limits of the “children’s folklore” category. The aim of the article is to show the influence of “potteriana” by Joan Rowling on the modern children’s folklore.
