Globalization, financial crisis, war, and pandemics inevitably affect businesses. The COVID-19 pandemic is believed to have had a major impact on the operations, financial health, and performance of many companies, but research in this area, including in the Baltic countries, is insufficient. The research problem is how has the COVID-19 pandemic affected the profitability of companies? The aim of this paper is to determine the changes in the profitability of companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Baltic during the COVID-19 period. Research methodology: the sample consists of 54 companies listed on the Nasdaq OMX Baltic exchange. The time period is divided into two periods: from 2016 to 2019, the pre-pandemic period, and from 2020 to 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic period. Using descriptive statistical analysis, an analysis of the profitability of companies in the pre-pandemic and COVID-19 periods has been carried out. Keywords: COVID-19 pandemic, return on equity, profitability, return on assets.
