Abstract (en)
The article analyzes features of literary journalism and discusses the display of them in Andrea Busfield’s, a contemporary British author’s, novel Born Under a Million Shadows (2009), which is based on the author’s experience in Afghanistan when she had traveled to Afghanistan as a reporter to cover the fall of the Taliban in October 2001. It is argued that contemporary fiction often contains a strong realistic paradigm, and, thus, sometimes possesses many features of literary journalism. Alongside the usual structural elements of fictional narrative, the realistic dimension of the story enhances the credibility level of the narrative.
