This article discusses the 1818-1846 book of friends, also known as an ‘album,’ be longing to Maria Siwicka, daughter of Ignacy Siwicki, a nobleman of Kaunas County. For a long time, the album was considered lost and was only discovered in Kaunas in 1949. It is now kept in the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore manuscript department in Vilnius. The oblong dark green booklet with Marie de Siwicki’s name embossed in gold letters on the cover contains 99 entries in various languages (French, Polish, German, and English) and three miniature illustrations. It contains many valuable autographs, includ ing Adam Mickiewicz (1824), Antoni Edward Odyniec (1825), and others. The article attempts to reconstruct some of the circumstances under which they were inscribed in Si wicka’s book of friends and discusses the thematic circle of poems and other diary entries.
