History, Culture, and Heritage of Manors in Central and Eastern Europe

Abstract

24-26 April An international conference was held at Vytautas Magnus University and Panemune Castle on 24-24 April. The aim of the conference was to present the latest research results of scholars from various fields of study on the history, culture, art and heritage of manor houses in the region of Central Eastern Europe, and to invite international discussion on current issues in this field. Forty scholars from Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary and independent researchers analysed aspects of manorial architecture and art, manorial society and culture in their presentations, and delved into the issues of sources and methodologies, heritage and contemporary challenges. The conference concluded with a rich cultural programme.
