How to make science more engaging and sociable?

Abstract

The first part of the programme focused on citizen science. It focused on the concept of citizen science and the presentation of the basic principles, limitations and challenges that can be encountered in citizen science projects. The speakers also shared their experiences in implementing citizen science projects or related activities in different countries and universities. The second part of the programme was dedicated to the development of science communication competences. It presented the complexities of science communication, ethics, visual communication and its understanding and the use of social media for effective science communication from theoretical and practical perspectives. The aim of this part was to develop the participants' knowledge and skills on how to communicate scientific information to the public using public communication tools and to discuss how to overcome the challenges posed by contemporary media.
