The topic of the bachelor's thesis is Lithuania's policy towards Russia after 2014. The chosen research methods to examine the topic are the following: document analysis, comparative method, literature analysis method, qualitative method (interview). The chosen research methods will help to examine the topic of Lithuanian-Russian relations, the historical context of which is typical today, to compare the foreign policy towards Russia pursued by the former President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and the new President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda elected in 2019. Based on the research of the qualitative method, the future perspectives of Lithuanian-Russian relations will be discussed. Relevance: Relations with Russia are important for Lithuania due to the fact that Russia is the largest neighbor of Lithuania and is especially significant in matters of military security. Russia's aggression in 2014 was shown to Ukraine, making Lithuania worried about national security. Also, economic and energy issues are especially important today, as Lithuania has one of the most important goals - to distance itself from Russia in terms of energy. The object of the bachelor's thesis research is Lithuania's policy towards Russia after 2014 until 2020. The aim is to find out what is Lithuania's policy towards Russia, military and economic security issues. Conclusions: After analyzing Lithuania's policy towards Russia after 2014 and the historical context (since 1990), it can be concluded that Lithuania's main goal was to ensure independence and security. Ensuring security and the goal of preventing Russian military intervention in Lithuania was paramount. Thus, the historical context is especially important today, as Russia's actions against Ukraine remind Lithuania of its own history and the struggle for an independent state. Today, Lithuania is fighting Russian propaganda, cyber attacks, disinformation, espionage and other hybrid threats. Russia is also using the pandemic to promote Lithuanian public distrust of the health security system and political power through disinformation. However, not only national security is important for Lithuania, but also economic and energy security. EU sanctions cost Russia a lot of money, but there are no plans to end them until Russia has ruled out the conflict in Ukraine. Russia's retaliatory sanctions in the EU and the Lithuanian economy also have negative consequences, but thanks to these sanctions, Lithuania can integrate more into Western markets. Lithuania is also energetically seeking to distance itself from Russia, the project implemented in 2014 (LNG terminal) was not the last, and by 2025 it is planned to distance itself from the BRELL ring with other Baltic countries.
