The health care system has a decisive influence on the economic growth and productivity of employees. The health level of the population directly affects the labour force, which is the basis of productivity. Productivity, in turn, has decisive influence on the country’s economic growth. Funding is the critical element, influencing health care processes, their volume of consumption and quality. So bearing this in mind, the aim of this article is to create the improvement model of health care funding in Lithuania, estimating the mandatory medical savings accounts, and supplementary (voluntary) individual health insurance development in Lithuania, in accordance with the principles of solidarity and universal access. The analysis of Lithuanian health care system and its funding changes during different reform stages helped to identify key issues and offer the health care funding improvement model, based on mandatory medical savings accounts and supplementary (voluntary) individual health insurance development.
