The experiment was carried out in 2018 at Experiment Station of Aleksandras Stulginskis University. The investigation task was to determine the influence of soil tillage of different intensity on weed abundance in long-term field experiment. In 2018, spring barley was cultivated. Treatments of soil tillage: 1) conventional plowing (depth: 23– 25 cm); 2) shallow plowing (depth: 12–14 cm); 3) deep loosening (depth: 23–25 cm); 4) shallow loosening (depth: 12– 14 cm); 5) direct sowing. Spring barley was grown according to intensive growing technology. Results show that the highest density of annual weeds was determined in the plots were direct sowing was applied. The density of annual weeds in these plots was 23.8 % higher than that in the plots of conventional plowing. The highest density of perennial weeds (2.5 plants m-2) was determined in plots where conventional plowing was applied. Sowing spring barley directly to stubble lead to 24.0 % lower density of perennial weeds compared to conventional plowing, but the difference was not significant Air-dry mass of annual weeds in spring barley crop was significantly higher when shallow loosening and direct sowing was applied as compared with that when conventional ploughing was used, 2.4 and 2.2 times respectively.
