Darbe pateikiama Silvijos Plath romano “Stiklo gaubtas” ir to paties pavadinimo filmo lyginamoji analizė. Susitelkiama į naratoriaus vaidmenį atskleidžiant romano ir filmo herojės charakterį ir tapatybės paieškas didžiosios depresijos ligos fone ir griežtų socialinių rolių aprašomame laikmetyje atžvilgiu. Kitas analizės objektas yra pasirinktų teminių sutapčių (angl. fidelity) tarp filmo ir romano analizė. Darbas suskirstytas į šešis skyrius. Pirmame skyriuje pateikiama kontekstinė informacija ir pristatomas darbo tikslas. Antrame skyriuje pristatomos darbo teorinės prieigos. Trečiame skyriuje analizuojamas naratoriaus vaidmuo ir pateikiama pasirinktų teminių sutapčių tarp filmo ir romano analizė. Ketvirtas skyrius yra išvados.
This paper concerns the comparative analysis between Sylvia Plath’s novel The Bell Jar and Larry Peerce’s film The Bell Jar. Sylvia Plath is one of the significant female authors of twentieth-century American literature who contributed to the development of the confessional mode of writing. Sylvia Plath is best known for her confessional poetry. The novel The Bell Jar is her semi-autobiographical novel. It is a story of a young Esther Greenwood who tries to find herself when coping with severe depression. The present paper is divided into five chapters. Chapter One introduces the topic of analysis and offers some information about the author of the novel The Bell Jar. Furthermore, it provides an overview of the novel and the film. Chapter Two discusses the selected aspects of the adaptation study. The chapter is divided into 3 sections. Section 2.1 touches upon adaptation as a phenomenon in the sphere of culture and explains the features of film adaptations. Section 2.2 discusses the aspect of narrator in literary works and in cinematic works. Section 2.3 covers the issue of fidelity of adaptation to original work. Chapter Three provides the analysis of the narrator in the novel The Bell Jar and the film The Bell Jar. Chapter Four analyses the issues of fidelity of the film The Bell Jar to its original source. Chapter Five draws conclusion on the analysis of the selected aspects of the novel’s adaptation into film.
