The effect of the image of a woman in the holy scriptures on the perception of femininity of participants in the X prayer group. Master's thesis. Head Assoc. prof. dr. Arturas Lukasevicius the Great University, Faculty of Catholic Theology, Department of Religious Studies. Kaunas, 2024. A lot is written about the modern woman, femininity is discussed, what girls and women are or should be like is considered, and women's own attitude towards the stereotypes established in society is examined. Various movements and organizations fight for women's freedom, but do we always avoid the danger of denying old clichés, denying identity as well? The Christian catechism may also emphasize certain roles that differ by gender, such as the role of families, the responsibility of parents, and the like, but these roles are not meant to emphasize one gender over another or to legitimize any kind of discrimination. Naturally, this raises the question - what is the image of a woman and what is her role in the Holy Scriptures? The purpose of this study is to describe the image of a woman in the Holy Scriptures and to identify the attitude of the women of the X prayer group towards it. Research tasks: 1. Review the image of a woman as a wife and as a mother in the Holy Scriptures; 2. To examine the image of a woman in the Holy Scriptures and in modern culture in terms of values and gender equality; 3. To investigate the effect of the image of a woman in the Holy Scriptures on the perception of femininity of the participants of the X prayer group. In order to implement the set tasks, a qualitative research method was chosen. A semi-structured interview method is used to collect data. Interviews were conducted with five women attending the X prayer group. The research revealed that the stories of the Holy Scriptures played a decisive role in the formation of cultural and social norms and influenced the perception of femininity throughout the ages. The study revealed that the influence of scriptural female role models on the perception of modern femininity can be significant, as the women depicted in scripture are often sources of inspiration, guidance, and cultural influence. Although women are portrayed as more passive than men in the Holy Scriptures, they were endowed with important roles at all levels of society, so today's society can draw inspiration and advice from the texts of the Holy Scriptures, supporting gender equality at all levels and in all spheres of life. From mothers and caregivers to leaders and prophets, the scriptures present a variety of models of womanhood. This diversity allows for a broader and more comprehensive understanding of femininity, recognizing that women can have multiple roles and identities.
