Sandėliavimo procesų tobulinimas X įmonės pavyzdžiu
Zaikauskas, Mantas |
Research aim - to provide solutions for the improvement of storage processes, based on literature analysis and empirical research. Objectives:
- To reveal the importance and problems of improving storage processes.
- To theoretically examine the possibilities of improving storage processes.
- To investigate the operation of X company's warehousing and to determine directions for improvement of warehousing processes.
- Provide solutions for improving X company's storage processes.
Research methods:
To implement the first and second tasks, a literature analysis is carried out, to fulfill the third task, a questionnaire survey is carried out, and observation is carried out, and to implement the fourth task, the analysis of the received research data will be used.
Research results: • Improving storage processes is crucial for any organization that deals with inventory management, as it can lead to increased efficiency, reduced costs, and better customer satisfaction. However, there are several common problems that can arise, such as a lack of visibility, ineffective use of space, and inefficient workflow. Therefore, it is essential to identify and address these issues to optimize the storage processes and improve overall business performance. • There are various possibilities for improving storage processes, including: Implementing Lean principles: Lean is a methodology that focuses on eliminating waste and improving efficiency. By implementing Lean principles in storage processes, it is possible to optimize the flow of materials, reduce inventory levels, and increase productivity. Automation: Automation technologies such as robotics, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), and conveyor systems can improve the speed and accuracy of storage processes. Automated systems can handle large volumes of materials, reduce labor costs, and increase efficiency. Utilizing technology: Modern technology such as barcode scanners, RFID, and warehouse management systems (WMS) can provide real-time visibility into inventory levels and streamline storage processes. This can reduce errors, improve accuracy, and increase efficiency. Redesigning layout: A poorly designed layout can cause congestion, wasted space, and inefficiencies. By optimizing the layout of the storage facility, it is possible to improve the flow of materials, reduce handling times, and increase efficiency. • In the process of receiving goods, employees face these main problems: inadequate workplace efficiency, long transfer of received goods to storage locations, and the challenge of managing excessive new flows of products. In order to address and improve the order picking process, the following aspects can be addressed: the problem of product visibility and the excessive physical workload experienced by workers. The two main problems in the goods packaging process are inadequate quality of packaging materials and errors in sending out goods. In the final storage process of this company - the process of replenishing and arranging goods in their locations, the following problems are relevant: a long process of placing goods and an excessive physical workload, which contributes to the slowdown of this process. • The main aspects of improving warehousing processes in company x include: Efficient management of incoming goods and their transfer to storage locations, optimization of order picking processes to improve productivity and reduce physical strain on workers, improving the visibility of goods throughout the picking process, addressing the issue of limited storage space through strategic inventory management, improving the quality of packaging materials and reducing the incidence of shipping errors, streamlining the process of restocking and arranging goods in storage locations. The research results were presented at the student scientific conference "YOUNG SCIENTIST 2023" on 29th March 2023 in the presentation that was titled: Storage processes and directions for their improvement. The article has been accepted for publication and will be published in the collection of articles of the 20th student scientific conference "Young scientist 2023" in the section "Innovations and solutions in business logistics".
