VMU to Hold Discussion on Ukraine-EU Relations
On 8 April, 6 p.m., VMU will hold a discussion at the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy (Gedimino Str. 44, Room 203) which will be dedicated to Ukraine. The title and topic of this scientific event is Ukraine in the EU: Is It Possible?
The participants of the discussion will focus on the recent events in Ukraine and the European Union’s position within their context. The scholars will present their forecasts of Ukraine’s eurointegrational process, Eastern Partnership development, etc.
Renowned political scientist, Dean of VMU Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy Prof. Šarūnas Liekis argues that the events in Ukraine of the recent months have shaken up the world and the EU’s actions with regards to Ukraine are significant and carry a lot of weight.
“It is necessary for the EU to unanimously support Ukraine and all democratic and economic changes in this country. Lithuania also plays a large role in this context: we could take on an important position of the experts, similarly as we do with regard to other post-soviet countries”, the Dean explained.
Foreign and VMU scientists will be invited to discuss: political scientist, famous TV and radio political analyst Dr. Asier Blas Mendoza (University of the Basque Country, Spain), French researcher of Central and Eastern European politics Dr. Philippe Perchoc, the Dean of the VMU Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy Prof. Šarūnas Liekis, and lecturer of Dept. of Political Science, energy security expert Dr. Giedrius Česnakas.
The discussion will be moderated by the head of the VMU Dept. of Political Science Assoc. Prof. Andžej Pukšto. The event will be held in English.
The organizers of the event are VMU Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy and the Academic Club of Political Scientists.
