Accommodation at VMU dormitory No. 5

VMU dormitory No. 5 is located at Universiteto g. 8, Akademija, Kaunas district. Dormitory is situated in the campus of VMU Agriculture Academy. From here you can reach academy easily by foot and by public transport you can get to the bus and train stations, Kaunas city center or downtown, from where you can reach other faculties of the University in just 15-20 minutes.

Dormitory No. 5 was renovated in 2007 and is located in a quiet and natural environment, where you will be able to spend your free time in the fresh air or to be engaged in sports and wellness activities. Moreover, in case you are interested, there are a lot of parking spaces for your car.

The five-storey dormitory has a structure of difference type of rooms (see below):

  • Two-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for two residents)
  • Three-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for three residents)
  • Single-bed room in a block of rooms (it includes single-bed room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of a three-beds room)
  • Two-beds room in a block of rooms (it includes two-beds room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of a three-beds room)

In each room there is a free broadband internet connection, table, bed, fridge, wardrobe and chairs.

Common areas of the dormitory:

  • Four shared kitchens per floor. There are cooking facilities which make it easy for the residents to prepare their own meals. Kitchen utensils (cookware, i.e, pots, pans, etc.);
  • Self-service laundry-drying room;
  • There are common Wi-Fi areas.

Accommodation Fees

VMU accommodation fees has to be paid for a current month, before 15 (fifteenth) calendar day of each month. Fee is calculated according to the type of a room, by using Student Self-Service portal http://studentas.vdu.lt. Since September 1 st , 2019 prices per month, for VMU students, are following:

  • Two-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for two residents) – 4 EUR/day per person
  • Three-beds room with a shared bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC for three residents) – 3 EUR/day per person
  • Single-bed room in a block of rooms (it includes single-bed room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of a three-beds room) – 4 EUR/day per person
  • Two-beds room in a block of rooms (it includes two-beds room and one common bathroom (sink, a shower tub and a WC) which has to be shared with residents of a three-beds room) – 3 EUR/day per person

For non-VMU students, prices are _ €/day higher, compared to VMU students.

This price includes all additional charges, that are related to dormitory exploitation.

There is a possibility to rent a parking place for your car. Price per month – 10 EUR.

Residents of the dormitory are welcomed to use self-service laundry/drying services:

  • Washing – from 3 EUR (10 kg)
  • Drying – 1,5 EUR (10 kg)

Important information

Before moving into the dormitory resident should bring oneself:

  • beddings (pillow, blanket) and bedsheets, covers, towel. If needed, beddings and towels can be provided during check-in procedure. There is an additional charge for it;
  • kitchen utensils (cup, plate, cutlery, pot, pan, kettle, etc.);
  • other personal belongings and inventory;

Reaching the Dormitory

Closest bus stops, to get from dormitory to the city center are: „Universiteto centriniai rūmai” (Studentų g.) or „Universiteto Bendrabučiai” (Universiteto g.);

From the dormitory to the downtown (bus stop „Vilniaus gatvė“), about 15 minutes drive;

From the dormitory to the city center (bus stop „Studentų skveras“), about 20 minutes drive;

From the dormitory to the train station (bus stop „Geležinkelio stotis “), about 25 minutes drive;

Busses from the Academy to the city drive every half an hour

Adaptation to the Needs of Disabled People

Dormitory is partly adapted to the needs of disabled people: there is a ramp for entering the building; adapted rooms, toilets and showers; students can reach common areas by using elevators.
