Scholarships Awarded to VMU International Students
Five VMU students won scholarships presented by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science and the Education Exchanges Support Foundation. The scholarships were dedicated to foreign MA students in Lithuania. The competition, which was announced in June as part of the development of EU Eastern Partnership’s agreements, drew in participants from Ukraine, South Caucasus, Moldova and other countries.
The scholarships were awarded to five students of the Diplomacy and International Relations MA programme at VMU: second-year student Elvin Gasimov (Azerbaijan) and freshmen Lala Ahmadzada, Yegana Damirchiyeva (Azerbaijan), Mykola Iakovenko (Ukraine), and Revaz Janashia (Georgia).
“Diplomacy and International Relations MA programme is taught in English for the third year in a row and has been popular among both Lithuanian and international students. This year ten foreigners will begin the studies”, Assoc. Prof. Andžėj Pukšto, Head of the VMU Dept. of Political Science, said.
Another competition by the Education Exchanges Support Foundation which aims to support world Lithuanians was won by Brazilian Thammy Padlipskas da Silva, who attended the Lithuanian International Student Services (LISS) international summer school this year. After finishing her BA studies in Brazil, da Silva also decided to pursue an MA degree at VMU and chose the Diplomacy and International Relations programme.
The geographical composition of the youths studying at VMU is increasingly diverse: more and more of them come from the Latin and North Americas, Asia, and Africa.
