Remembering John F. Kennedy – Public Lecture-Discussion
On Wednesday 20 November, 6 p.m., at the VMU Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy (Gedimino St. 44, Room 302), VMU Academic Club of Political Scientists and the faculty will hold a public discussion and lecture in memory of the President of the USA John F. Kennedy, entitled “J. F. Kennedy: What Can We Do for a Country?”.
The organizers invite everyone to attend the lecture, which will focus on Kennedy’s life and legacy. The event’s speakers include Deputy Speaker of the Seimas Petras Auštrevičius, Member of Lithuanian Youth Council’s (LiJOT) board Andrius Palionis, VMU researchers and lecturers Dr Gerda Jakštaitė and Giedrius Česnakas, and a spokesperson of the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania.
The event is organized not only in commemoration of President John F. Kennedy but also as an encouragement of civic action by young people. The presentations will be followed by a discussion on civic action and one’s responsibility to the country. The discussion will be held in English and moderated by PhD student Danguolė Bardauskaitė.
The Academic Club of Political Scientists promotes the creation of civil society in Lithuania, raises the political culture of academic youth, propagates studies of political sciences, and provides the club’s members with opportunities to meet famous politicians, political scientists and public figures, and get to know them firsthand.
