Prof. Dr. Habil. Margarita Teresevičienė is an educator, professor at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Education Academy, and Habilitated Doctor of Social Sciences (2001). In June 2022, she was awarded the regalia of VMU Honorary Professor in recognition of her significant contributions to Lithuanian education science and the promotion of the University’s name.

Prof. Teresevičienė has been working at Vytautas Magnus University since 1991, nearly since its re-establishment. In the same year, in cooperation with diaspora scholars and with the help of the professor, the Centre of Education was established, and in the summer, the first teachers’ summer camp was organised. In 1993, she made another significant contribution by assisting in the development of the first Master’s degree program in Applied Pedagogy. In 2007, Prof. Teresevičienė laid the foundations for a new paradigm of technology application in university studies, developed by an interfield team and educators, and already in 2008 she released the first cohort of doctoral students who, alongside her, developed the field of research on technology-enhanced learning. The professor has served on the Council of VMU Faculty of Social Sciences and the University Council, and was elected Chair of VMU Senate (2006-2007), Head of the Department of Education (2002-2014), and Chair of Doctoral Studies in Education.

In 1975, she graduated with a degree in Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology. From 1986 to 1988, she was a postgraduate student of Pedagogy at Vilnius University. In 1992, she co-founded the Lithuanian Association of Adult Education. In 1995-1996, she completed a traineeship at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA.

Prof. Teresevičienė is also a leader, coordinator, and expert in various national and international programmes and projects, primarily in the field of education.
