International Students Were Introduced to Kaunas and VMU

Foreign students, who have arrived to VMU for Spring Semester as participants of LLP/ ErasmusCampus Europae or bilateral exchange programmes, have been introduced to interesting places in the city and the university, as well as the local cultural life.

On January 27 February 1, the VMU International Office, in collaboration with the students-mentors from the Erasmus Student Network, organized an orientation week for the incoming international students. The week was spent visiting the faculties of VMU, the VMU Centre for Foreign Languages, the library, meeting the Vice Deans and coordinators of international programmes. An unconventional tour of Kaunas was organized as well, giving the students an opportunity to see the most famous and the most internesting places of Kaunas downtown and the Old Town, including museums.

The orientation week culminated with an official presentation of VMU, the system of studies here and the programmes, delivered by the VMU International Office. Afterwards, the foreign students shared their first impressions of VMU and Kaunas.

For the spring semester this year, Vytautas Magnus University has welcomed 78 students from 19 countries: Ireland, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Greece, Spain, Italy, Japan, the USA, Latvia, Poland, Norway, South Korea, Portugal, France, Russia, Finland, Turkey, Ukraine and Germany. Some of these students have stayed at VMU since autumn semester, arrived for full-time Master’s degree studies or became free listeners. The largest number of foreign students this semester has come from France, while the Faculty of Economics has attracted the most of all the international students.
