VMU Support Fund for Belarusian students

Information updated 11th March, 2021.

Vytautas Magnus University has established a fund to support Belarusian students. The fund aims to help those students who are admitted to VMU after being expelled from Belarusian institutions of higher education and/or persecuted for civil or political reasons by the repressive actions of the government of Belarus. Such students cannot continue studies in their home country being haunted by fear, threats and unsafe environment.

VMU will issue in total 50 scholarships:

  • 100 percent fee waiver for tuition and accommodation in VMU dormitories for the entire study period;
  • 100 percent fee waiver for a 4-week intensive online course of the Lithuanian language and culture in January 2021 and, if needed, for an intensive English course of a particular level;
  • A possibility to receive a one-time social stipend of 160 EUR if a student experiences financial or social difficulties upon his or her arrival to study and live in Lithuania;
  • Free psychological support, if needed.

To be admitted students have to meet the requirements of the fund and pass the scrutiny of their prior study experience and study programme correspondence to VMU study programmes by the relevant VMU faculty.

Companies, organizations and natural persons are invited to express solidarity with the University and to contribute to VMU initiative.
