Career Days Presented Job Opportunities and Studies

On 8–10 April, VMU organized Career Days 2014, the traditional annual event which helps students and graduates plan their careers or further studies, allows them to meet with employers and even participate in job interviews on the spot, discuss studies at VMU and abroad. Internship opportunities abroad were presented by the VMU International Office.

This year the participants also had a chance to meet with faculty representatives and discuss studies at VMU and abroad.

For the visitors’ convenience, this year both the employer fair and the study fair was organized in the same place. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eglė Stasiūnaitienė, the head of VMU Career and Competence Centre, explained that the event was designed to be really helpful to students and graduates contemplating their careers. Even more, the preliminary staff selection was organized for posts of employment and internship offered by 20 various companies.

On Tuesday 8 April, students and graduates were welcomed at VMU Central Building (S. Daukanto Str. 28), where seminars on preparation for job or internship interviews were held. Later on the same day, individual consulting sessions were offered for students on the first contact with the potential employer: the preparation of a CV.

A large crowd of youths anxious about their future flocked to the university on 10 April as well. In a company fair at VMU Great Hall (S. Daukanto Str. 28), everyone was be able to meet with the representatives of various companies and exchange contacts. Both those who have graduated and those who haven’t yet were welcome to leave their CVs to the employers and even participate in job or internship interviews straight away during the event. This year’s fair was attended by over 40 companies which could become a great launching pad for the careers of those making the first steps in their independent lives. Students and graduates met with representatives of national and international companies working in the fields of IT, hi-tech, insurance, biotechnology, marketing, advertising, agricultural, accounting, etc.

Also on 10 April, a study fair was organized in the premises of VMU Great Hall. Here, participants learned the details about the master’s degree programs offered at the university, discussed studies with representatives from all ten faculties of VMU, and received lots of useful advice. Faculty employees informed everyone about the admission terms, study forms and subjects, and possibilities of further studies.

The VMU International Office had their own stand during the fair where the internship opportunities abroad were introduced.
