Abstract
The period adolescence according to different scientists is understood and defined in a different way. A correct solution of this problem in large extent determines adolescent education, mental health politics. The main research goal in the comparison of secondary school students with university students was to assess differences in identity development in order to identify whether personal changes undergoing in adolescence at the age of 16-17 in principle are typical of students at the age of 19-21. The method used was an identity status questionnaire EOMEIS-2 (Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status, the extended version). The findings indicate some but not basic differences. University students achieved a little more identity in interpersonal sphere. Moratorium as a critical and unstable status is typical for interpersonal sphere and diffusion is a typical status of ideological sphere for both samples.
