Abstract
Aging is a stage in human development that involves many changes, both physical and psychological, and social. This period of life is one of the most difficult in human life. The old age is usually described as negatively, as old age is associated with an aging body, diseases, reduced abilities, self-dependence and dependence on other help and support. Typically, the beginning of the old age is associated with retirement and the accompanying consequences of this is a reduction in social ties and a loss of work activity. Old age is inevitable, so it is worth using the experience and wisdom of the ancestors to adapt social work to ways that help people to live a better and more successful life.
The aim of the study is to reveal the factors of successful aging from the perspective of the ancestors. This paper raises the question of research - what factors determine successful aging. The aim of the study is to reveal the most important factors identified by seniors that determine their successful aging and how the participants themselves perceive successful aging. Thus, the work focuses on the individual, social and functioning/inclusion factors that contribute to successful aging.
The study included 8 people (4 men and 4 women), 7 from the age of 80 who are active or active in various organizations/institutions, 1 participant - 71 years old, organizing activities for the elderly. The data obtained are analyzed and interpreted on the basis of the theoretical material examined. The analysis of the data revealed that successful aging is determined by many factors, but one of the most important is the maintenance of good health. Individual factors: maintaining activity, being able to engage in a favorite activity, giving positive emotions while improving physical health. The social factors of successful aging are the preservation of relationships with other people, social relationships that protect against loneliness, provide the necessary help and support to help get involved in community life.
Factors that stimulate action, inclusion are the ability to meet communication, self-realization and spiritual needs. Activities at an older age are like going out into a public space where two participants meet - a person and a society. As a result, there is a significant increase in opportunities for older people to discover and choose from a wide range of activities, and to invite organizers or institutions that are able to engage and operate to join and utilize the accumulated experience and talents of older people.
