Abstract
In order to increase soil organic matter and to fulfill new environmental requirements reduced tillage systems become more and more popular. Reduced soil tillage systems in many countries showing positive results, but still lucking data about combination effects of different soil tillage intensity, straw and green manure management. The aim of our investigation was to evaluate the effect of ploughless tillage, straw and green manure incorporation on shear strength and earthworm number and biomass. Our results shows, that straw incorporation increased shear strength from 11.1 to 11.6 % as compared to the soil without straw. Ploughless tillage systems, compared with deep plowing, increased shear strength from 46.6 to 71.7 %. Shallow plowing increased shear strength by 51.5 % in 10-20 cm depth arable layer. Straw incorporation significantly increased the number of earthworms in the arable layer. Although in drought conditions there were no observed tillage effects on earthworms, but shallow rotovation (RK), green manure incorporation (ŽTRK) and no-tillage (ND) increased the average earthworm weight 2-3 times to compare with deep plowing (GA).
