Abstract: Research was investigated at the Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology and Institue of Biology and Plant Biotecnology at the Faculty of Agronomy of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2014–2015. Investigation in vitro was carried out with Amaranthus caudatus L. cotyledons, leaves and hypocotyls explants. On MS medium with different growth regulators concentrations were grown 60 explants. The callus induction (%) were evaluated. The results of this research indicates that there is strong medium composition and type of explant effect on callus genesis of amaranth. The most intensive callus genesis was observed on hypocotyls. Cotyledons and leaves showed the highest callus induction when explants were growth in medium supplemented with 2.0 mg 1-1 TDZ + 0.1 mg 1-1 NAA and 3.0 mg 1-1 TDZ + 0.1 mg 1-1 NAA combination
