Abstract: The paper presents results of the study that was carried out at Aleksandras Stulginskis University, Biology and Plant Biotechnology Institute and Agrobiotechnology laboratory in 2014-2016. The aim of this study was to estimate the effects of growth regulators on microshoot formation in blue honeysuckle 'Karina' (Lonicera caerulea L.). Shoot tips of Lonicera caerulea L. 'Karina' were used as explants. The sterilization of explants was carried out by using distilled water, 10% (v/v) sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and 70% (v/v) ethanol aqueous solutions. Sterile explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium supplemented with cytokinin 6-benzyladenine (BAP) (0,5–5,0 mg l-1) and thidiazuron (TDZ) (0,5–5,0 mg l-1). 36 explants of shoot tips were cultivated in each treatment. The experiment was independently replicated three times. Afterwards, the frequency of microshoots formation was determined. The results of the study shows that the microshoots formation frequency depends on the concentration of plant growth regulators. It was found that the frequency of microshoots formation was higher when BAP was applied rather than the same concentration of cytokinin TDZ. The most effective results of microshoots formation was determined in medium that was suplamented with 2,0–3,0 mg l-1BAP and 2,0 mg l-1 TDZ
