Abstract: Wastewater sludge from municipalities can be effectively digested to biogas. The aim of this research is to evaluate the possibilities of anaerobic digestion of municipal wastewater sludge. The raw sludge (5,5 % DM) and sludge from storage tanks (9,8 – 14,9 % DM) have been analyzed. Results of raw sludge digestion show the biogas potential yield of 24,5-25,1 litters per kg sludge or 723-740 l/kg VS with 66,9-67,4 % of methane. Such biogas is suitable for energetic needs. Digestion of sludge from storage tanks had different dynamics of degradation. Therefore it shows that sludge in tanks has some layers with hardly degradable or inorganic materials
